Leadership Lessons @ Lunch

The “Leadership Lessons @ Lunch” is a programme for student leaders that aims to provide brief, impactful sessions on a range of topics and skills areas.  The design and delivery of the programme acknowledges that time for student leaders is a scarce commodity and yet every moment is an opportunity to learn, reflect and grow. The notion of the “lesson” refers to the opportunity for learning in an interactive and experiential way.

The Student Development Cluster in the Department of Student Affairs has arranged these sessions based on the feedback and requests from previous groups of student leaders. The aims of the sessions are to develop leadership competencies that complements the leadership journey of student leaders and other development programmes.  All students are welcome to attend the workshops. The sessions are focused on practical skills that are applicable for all students.

Overall Learning Outcomes

  • Developing hard and soft skills of the office bearers of student organisations
  • Understanding how to operate as a student organisation within the UCT context
  • Developing an understanding of the principles of good governance and practice
